I LOVE this book!!! (so much that I even made a t shirt with the 1st and last priciples on it)

"Transcend the ego, live in flow"

This book is awesome and I give James props for what he is willing to do on a personal level in order to live in the flow.

As I said on another post, his phrases have helped me a lot. One that I learned this weekend reminds me of the whole concept of transcending the ego and living in flow. The phrase is simply: "It's just a thing." Believe it or not, this phrase is helping me a lot. James said it in regards to getting a ding in the car door... but as with most of what he says, there is SO much more! (always)

I was a person who got upset and felt bad about myself when noticing a ding in my LIPSTICK let alone my car door!!! *smile* But seriously, the unconscious negative messages we have held must be replaced with something productive!

Believe me, I know what it means to make "a thing" into meaning everything instead. A mountain out of a mole hill, so to speak. I have noticed typos AFTER I sent an email out and felt the world was coming to an end. I was so worried that someone would judge me; yet, I was totally judging myself... AND SO HARSHLY! When we are so used to beating ourselves up, we don't even realize we are doing this.

Stop the auto-pilot! It's just a thing!!! We must rise above our egos and live in the flow of Spirit.

If you do not have some version of this book, you are missing out on so much. In this case, it is much more than a thing - it is a masterpiece, a work of art, a labor of love and the T in Truth.

You must see him in person too, if you haven't done that. You really do owe it to yourself.

Thank you James. God bless you.

Love to all. Love always, Jen

On Virginia Tech... Energy flows where attention goes.

"Energy flows where attention goes."

James Ray International

With the latest example of violence at Virginia Tech, millions of Americans and people around the world are asking, "What's the cause?"

We are a nation inundated with violence from every angle. One manifestation of this is the current ever-increasing popularity of violent horror films. In fact, according to an article I recently read in a major paper, "the more violent the better."

Graphic images of violence in the media are now common place, and our senses have become deadened to depictions of violence. Is it any wonder that since Generation Y (or the Internet Generation) has grown up their entire lives watching graphic violence in their own living rooms night after night, that this would be programmed into them as "normal?"

To add to that phenomenon, as a nation we've spent the last half a decade totally consumed with the "war on terror." Our news brings terror into our living rooms every single night.

"You cannot solve a problem from the same level of thinking that created it."
--Albert Einstein

As Americans, we are surrounded by this "war," and yet the greatest terror we experience is in our own homes and airports. I travel over 200 days per year, and I cannot tell you how many times my bags have been "terrorized" and ransacked... all in the name of national security.

Every single time I'm in the airport of late, I hear the announcement repeated over and over again, "The TSA has raised the security threat level to orange." What the heck does orange mean, and how are the colors decided? I've never heard of the threat level as anything other than orange (as close to red on the visible spectrum without being red). Will it ever drop to sky blue, white or pink? Doubtful. That wouldn't be scary enough.

Terror has now crept into our school system at great magnitude and the message is loud and clear that we must wake up!

In my book Practical Spirituality, I wrote a chapter entitled "Stand 'For' Something Versus 'Against' It." If our full attention continues to focus upon terror, we feed the beast... It's a raging bonfire, and we're throwing another log on it day after day, week after week.

Bottom line: The "war on terror" feeds and propagates terror... Violence in our media and in our homes feeds and creates more violence.

I'm not suggesting that the "war on terror" or any other single philosophy is totally and completely responsible for the tragedy at Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech is the outcome of a momentum of energy that has pumped violence and terror into our homes and minds over time. The Virginia Tech incident is the REAL "code orange."

And if we don't wake up soon, it will only continue to intensify.

The only way to stop the madness is to increase our consciousness and shift our focus. And it seems that our friends across the pond are on the right track. A member of Tony Blair's cabinet, International Development Secretary Hilary Benn, said they are no longer using the term "war on terror." According to Benn, "the phrase strengthens terrorists by making them feel part of a bigger struggle." It's definitely a step in the right direction.

I encourage each individual to release the "war on terror" from their vocabulary and minds and begin focusing on "propagating peace." As we begin to shift our individual consciousness, we shift the consciousness of our country and, eventually, the consciousness of our planet. It may not occur overnight, but let us begin...

"You cannot solve a problem from the same level of thinking that created it."

James,

Great post! And of course spot on. We absolutely need to shift our focus of attention as a nation and begin, like the Brits to language very differently. (I always knew Tony B. was smart!)

I personally refuse to think in terms of "terror" anymore and replace it with thoughts of Love. Funny too ... terror doesn't show up in my day to day experience anymore...just lots of love.

Orange would be some arbitrarily made up color code level to incite more "fear" in the hearts of the populace when it was not appropriate to use Red. I will say that living in the NY City Area we have had Code Reds more than a few times. I think "Code Orange" is the everyday normal level for NYC. Pink, Blue or White? What a concept! People might actually have to love one another at those colors!

On a happier note... MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS on the book deal with Hyperion! That's huge! Initially I was completely baffled with the news as automatically thought of Hyperion Solutions, the BPM software behemoth, not Hyperion Publishing!

I also want to mention, for all your blog "Comments" readers (!), that The Learning Systems Paraliminals are completely amazing! I have been using them for less than a week and can see changes already. They are wonderful! And so relaxing! What an easy and pleasurable way to make lasting changes.

I know you are enjoying Kona... thank you for sharing the MM pics! Just enough to make me wish I were there! :)

In Love,

Thank you so much for this post. It also came to my mailbox a while back. My son's friend was killed in this event and even my son felt that there was too much concentration on it. His comment to me was that he loved his friend and would miss him alot but he refused to go out of his way to make himself even sadder about it by focusing on it. He thought this made him sort of uncomfortable to be around for the other friends but, of course, it was actually great for them because he was able to console them yet move on. It released them from any guilt about moving on.

One of my first thoughts when I heard about Tech was of you and also Joe Vitale. I wanted to know how you deal with such a tragedy that consumes the media. Then I realized that I didn't need to hear you say it about this particular event. What I needed to do was turn off the media. Ahhhh. So easy. Click. Then I put on some great music and danced. I smiled at people and meditated and visualized and went on.

Thank you for everything you do. I am all over your practical spirituality book..hope you take paypal. :) (if not, I'll find a way..no worries).

It is a sin to be poor.

To quote George Bernard Shaw, "It is a sin to be poor."

James Ray International

If you trace the etymology (roots) of the word sin to its Greek origin, you'll find that it comes from an archery term meaning "to miss the mark."

In today's society, you're compensated monetarily based upon the value (real or perceived) that you provide.

For example, we obviously place more value on our own entertainment than we do our own evolution, transformation and growth. Witness the difference in remuneration between an actor and a teacher.

We also have no problem compensating our sports figures multiple millions of dollars per year to chase balls around a field (Tiger Woods pulled in over $80 million last year), but we think that our spiritual teachers are supposed to be paupers. That's faulty logic.

It's interesting to me that many of us in Western culture are conditioned to believe that it's not "spiritual" to make (or desire) large sums of money (green energy). This is ludicrous!

In the creative story in Genesis, God stepped back on the 7th day to observe His handiwork and determined it was all "good." All of it.

Anytime you "damn" any part of creation, you dam God.

For where is God not? Where is spirit not? Where is energy not? It's all the same stuff.

When you truly understand that the money in your world (or lack thereof) is directly related to the value you provide, then you'll realize that those who aren't making enough of it aren't providing enough value. This is the REAL mistake or missing the mark: an incorrect focus.

Quite frankly, I've never had a money goal for the entirety of my life until just recently... and yet I've become a multi-millionaire. Why? My entire focus has been to learn, grow, love and give more value to myself and others.

...and money has come as a byproduct of this focus.

"Why do you have one now?" you may ask. Only because I believe that in our society, like Warren Buffet states, "Money is just a convenient way of keeping score." I use the money my company generates as a feedback mechanism to how much value we're providing to the world. No more, no less.

One of the messages in my daily Thoughts of Power (sign up free online) is this:

"A feast is made for laughter and wine maketh merry; but money answereth all things."
--Ecclesiastes 10:19

If you look at studies of those who are "poor," it's comprehensive. Poor is a state of mind, not just an empty wallet or purse. Those in our world who are poor are also invariably poor in their relationships, their intellects, their health... All of which are pillars of Harmonic Wealth®.

Poor is a focus, a vibration and mindset that attracts more of the same.

Only when you change the fundamental cause of this vibration will you ever experience different results and indeed "hit the mark."

Mr. Shaw was dialed in.

"Those in our world who are poor are also invariably poor in their relationships, their intellects, their health... All of which are pillars of Harmonic Wealth®."

There are great points in this post about wealth being a multi-faceted thing. But the above comment speaks to age old knee-jerk stereotypes about the poor. Suggesting that poor people have crappy relationships, are stupid and in ill health is offensive to the majority of the world's populace. MOST of the world subsists on less than $1 a day. For those of us who work with the homeless and the working poor, stereotypes like these are damaging and lead people to spend more time worrying about their personal wealth than the health of the community at large. There are larger paradigms at work here than individual responsibility. I would suggest that the author note the Pulitizer prize winning novel, "The Working Poor" by David K. Shipler for a balanced discussion on personal and collective responsibility.

We are a part of the whole. Offering blanket stereotypes about the majority of the earth's inhabitants damages not only those who live on less than $1 each day, but on those of us who have material abundance. Wealth is not an indication of health, relationships or intellect (visit Los Angeles for evidence!). Nor is poverty. Such a simplistic approach is intellectually irresponsible.

It's wonderful to support and empower people people in living in true abundance. However, it is socially irresponsible to label the majority of the world so negatively because they do not fit Western paradigms of material wealth.

Blogger Heather said ... (7/26/2007 8:16 AM) :
In response to that last comment I think you may be missing the point Mr Ray is trying to make. Thought creates things and your personal focus seems to be on the financial Lack in the world? There is no suggestion that poverty Alone creates bad relationships, bad health or otherwise, he was making a valid observation, not imposing a state of living on the less financially blessed amongst us. The article was focusing on helping us all to realise we can actually have harmony in EVERY area of our lives THROUGH our state of mind. To some the harmony required through financial wealth may be more than for others. Not everyone wants or needs the responsibility of being a multi millionaire to achieve harmonic happiness. As Mr Ray stated, money alone does not create happiness or wealth, the positive use of it however, does.

I don't believe there is anything damaging about giving "hope" and to my mind there was no suggestion of stereotypes created through financial poverty. He endorses the fact that EVERYONE has an equal opportunity to use their thoughts and actions to create happiness within. As for suggesting that Mr Ray is socially irresponsible.... like me, you "Chose" to read this article.. Nobody made you continue and arouse anger towards it. Which supports all his beliefs.. That thoughts create our reality. The energy we waste on being angry and judgemental can be far better employed in creating balance in our lives for ourselves and others which will ultimately lead us all towards harmonic wealth.

Thank you - James Ray!

Your words are an inspiration and confirmation that my Heavenly Father - provides for me in abundance completely. For those who can take what you like and leave the rest. For who cannot or chose to write about the poor - attempting to fit the Atlantic Ocean into your thimble sized thinking may be the issue or not.

Your massage speaks huge volumes of modern day reality of steroetypes who believe poverty is a gate way to heaven. My kid sister discusing with her just yesterday told me how rich people like Bill Gate have sleepless nights because of money and ahvances all reasons why she believes mediocracy is the best option for humanity.Worst of it all is that these philosophies are perpetuated by "born again christians"like my sister. But on the other hand i thank God for teachers like you who bring the reality from a biblical perspective about God abundant life in all areas.
Thanks soo much James and i am looking forward to seeing you in one of your events in my area.
GOD BLESS.

I have more of a question acutally. I really admire your work. I fully believe it is a sin to be poor. It also makes sense to me that if you really believe you're on the right path, and you're doing something that not only makes a significant difference in the world, but is also what you have spent 15 years of your life studying, than the money would be there. For me though, this just isn't true. I also 100% believe that if one part of your life is off, the rest is also probably out of balance, but again, for me this isn't true. I'm a health counselor and my health is great, my relationships are great, my life is great. I even pay close attention to the moves that I make in my life based on my intuition (I studied osho, meditate, etc), but for some odd reason, the money doesn't seem to be enough when I do make an intuitive move. Any ideas at what may be occuring?

Your work is an inspiration that it can be done. I have a similar problem to yours. I am unable to keep the material wealth I acquire. I can not tell you how many times I have had to start all over again. I am in one of those moments.
I hope I can resolve it in your workshop.Thank you

Are you ready to make powerful, lasting changes in just minutes a day?

I recently told you about some incredible CDs I've come across, sure to bring you results beyond belief. It's called Paraliminals, and here are a few reasons you've got to hear them:

  • Boost your energy level in just 10 minutes...
  • Improve your memory in only 16 minutes...
  • Feel great in just 18 minutes...
  • Acquire a new behavior in only 24 minutes...
  • Change memories in just 30 minutes...

Let's face it... One of the biggest challenges to creating success in any area of life is changing the habitual programming that's buried in your unconscious mind. I'm talking about the programming that's embedded after years upon years of exposure to limiting beliefs of what we can and can't do. These are the kind of beliefs that can sometimes take years to reprogram and replace.

Isn't it time you released these beliefs that have held you back from the kind of soaring success, wealth and joy that you deserve?

Well, now you can with the help of these powerful Paraliminals CDs. They're created by my friend, Paul Scheele, a true master in the field of whole-brain thinking. And I know you're going to love his Paraliminals program to achieve lasting results in your own life. The break-through technologies of neuro-linguistic programming and whole brain learning coupled with over two decades of research and field work by Paul have made this program possible.

Paraliminals work by helping your inner-mind learn new strategies to respond to what's going on in your world.

For instance:

  • If you have procrastination issues, your mind learns new strategies that get you moving...
  • If you have negative self-talk or self-sabotage, your mind learns strategies to set you on automatic pilot toward your goals...
  • If you have fears and anxieties, your mind learns how to deal with them and project strength in any situation...
  • If you have money hang-ups, your mind learns how to handle them so you can embrace a prosperity consciousness...
Learning Strategies

Best of all, the program couldn't be easier. There's nothing to study or memorize... No homework or exercises to do. Simply put on the Paraliminal CD of your choice (there's 26 of them to choose from), kick back, listen and enjoy. Most of these sessions are only 17 to 20 minutes each, which means you're spending just a fraction of your day to reap exactly the results you're after.

It's really just that easy... And the results are powerful.

Download a free booklet to learn more about the 26 Paraliminal CDs... How they work and why they will work for you. You'll also get a discount when you invest in a set for yourself, as well as a money-back promise. Paul will even throw in lifetime Success Coaching to make sure you receive a high value return on your investment. (If you happen to have any challenges in downloading the booklet, email Webmaster@LearningStrategies.com for assistance.)

Your collection includes titles such as Prosperity, New Behavior Generator, Deep Relaxation, Get Around To It, Instantaneous Personal Magnetism and Ideal Weight... All great topics that get to the core of some deep issues that, while common, you don't need to hold onto!

You've simply got to check them out.

Get any of the individual Paraliminals for $29.95 or get The Ultimate You Library of 22 Paraliminals today at a special price: Just $359.80. Payment plans available!

James,

I agree! This book is my absolute favorite too! I always encourage people to read this book, and if they don't get something the first time through, to read it over and over. Just reading it expands conscious awareness! (It's that powerful focused intention you put into it while writing it!) I come away with new insight every time I read it!

I find that every time I go to read any other book, I am drawn back again by some mysterious force to re-read Practical Spirituality!

I want to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude for being so wonderful with my friend Jamie and her daughter Becca in Minneapolis. They were and remain so inspired by you, and Becca has declared you "her favorite person she's met" even over Aaron Carter and Lindsay Lohan! (Now that's special!)

In Love,

Amy
