We are a family of four, and it’s been a difficult 3 years for us. Our income underwent a major shift when the primary earner of our household had to go on disability in 2006. We are rebuilding our lives after the surgery, job loss, necessary moves, and financial adjustments. We are overcoming our challenges. Our current income is around $1200.00 a month and the home we rent takes 76% of the money we have coming in. We believe that we would be able to recover must faster is less of our money went to rent and right now is the best time to buy a home if you are on a limited income. Unfortunately while we are in recovery, we are not in position to finance a home. Luckily we have found our dream house.
It is unique, a little rough around the edges, and needs some work, like us. Fortunately it is an REO property (a foreclosure owned by the bank) that is going to auction in March. It has a very low minimum bid. We have a modest amount of funds available for bidding on this home and believe that we should be able to win the bid. However, in order to be able to bid on a property the auction requires $5000.00 in cash or cashier’s check payable in our name for earnest money. This has the potential to restrict us from bidding. We are seeking a sponsor to place the earnest money. With this aid we feel that we will be able to place the winning bid on this property and reduce our overall debt to income ratio allowing us to pay off our current/ past due debts and have the security and peace of mind a home provides.
