Axis of Evil... Not-So-Much

Please show your support by leaving comments on the Huffington Post article here and by passing it on to other harmonically-minded individuals.

James Ray InternationalPresident Bush's January 2002 State of the Union Address, where he coined his "Axis of Evil" terminology to describe Iraq, Iran and North Korea, was an attempt to fit entire governments, populations and countries into a catchphrase box. Marketing propaganda at its very best.

The trouble is, these countries are populated with real flesh-and-blood people--mothers, fathers, grandparents, children--just like us. While the media loved repeating the "evil" line for a while (sound bites are sexy and fun!), this good-guys-versus-bad-guys approach to foreign policy turned mostly into a public relations nightmare, empowering the hardliners it was meant to control. Energy flows where attention goes. Plus, I shudder to think how many millions of our fellow human beings felt judged and labeled unjustly.

We haven't just been watching a backwards nation... We've been watching ourselves.

Haven't we too been just as backwards in our thinking, believing people to be "less than" because they're different from us? Very few stop to realize that "evil" is just the word "live" spelled backwards. Evil is nothing more than to live in a backwards way. Think about it. How evil have many of us been with our backwards way of thinking?

America's teens, for instance, grew up during the Bush years, and until very recently, didn't know Iran as anything other than "evil." The marketing and conditioning had set in--and set in well. "We should nuke bomb the whole country," I heard several teens say, after learning that its president disavowed the Holocaust. In their minds, it was easy to imagine wiping a country off the map when populated by a group of evil (and not individual) human beings.

But maybe our teens' judgments (as well as our own) have shifted, after seeing images of tens of thousands of beautiful, passionate and energized Iranians protesting in the streets for their right to vote for a more progressive, democratic leader and future. The fact that courageous Iranians are willing to lose their lives for a fraction of the freedom most of us in this country take for granted is hopefully not lost on our youth--or their parents.

Apart from color, race, country, or religion, it's becoming impossible to ignore that all human beings are the same and, ultimately, want the same things. Of course, we reach for different things at different times, and we come to the point when we're ready to stand up for those rights at different intervals.

But shift happens. It's evolution, baby... And it can't be stopped.

You Can't Turn Back the Clock

Evolution is inevitable. It can't be stopped... Not for long. The human spirit is always for fuller expression and expansion. What we're witnessing in Iran and across the globe, where people are showing their solidarity for these expanding souls standing up for their rights, is a profound evolution of spirit. As consciousness expands, people once held down are awakening, beginning to say, "I'm worth more than this, and I deserve the rights and freedom to make my own choices and have a say in my own life."

Consider Obama's election.

Don't you think his election into the highest office in the land is certainly evidence of a huge shift in our country? One of the most obvious signs that consciousness is expanding was on Inauguration Day, where this son of a Muslim, said: "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and nonbelievers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth." How did we go from eight years of Christian supremacy to honoring Muslims and nonbelievers? Man, what a leap!

Although Obama's statement got some people's DNA twisted tighter than a drum, the truth is that this evolution is as natural to life as birth itself. And, like the birthing process, it's difficult and challenging.

Think about it: for anything new to live something first has to die. For you to be born to this lifetime, you had to die to the warmth and safety of the womb (where anything you needed was delivered immediately). Creation and destruction are two opposite poles of the same dance, and we must be willing to dance the dance. We must be willing to let go of the old to come into a new level of experience.

Check history and you'll find that all profound transformation and growth always begins with a shift in consciousness. Just months ago, Iranians were part of the Axis of Evil. Now they're our brothers and sisters fighting for their freedom while we cry at their losses and pray for their safety.

A Shift from "Me" to "We" to "All"

The way I see it, there are three expanding levels of awareness with each expansion inclusive of the last. Humanity, helped in large part through the internet, is beginning a shift from the first and second levels to the third. Whether you like it or not, again, this process cannot be stopped. Let me explain.

In the first level, Egocentric, it's all about "me." Me. Me. And me.

In the second level, Ethnocentric, it's all about "we." Me and my friends (who are just like me--Christian, Jewish, American, white, black, male, female, wealthy, what have you).

But, in the third level, Worldcentric, it's about "all."

We can't help but go from "me" to "me and my buds" to "all." If you look at Obama's speeches, starting with his campaign speeches to his Inaugural address to his recent speech to the Middle East at Cairo University, Obama repeatedly makes "world statements." This snippet from his Cairo speech is an example of both an "All" and "Expanded Consciousness" mentality:

"...There are some who advocate for democracy only when they are out of power. Once in power, they are ruthless in suppressing the rights of others. No matter where it takes hold, government of the people and by the people sets a single standard for all who hold power: You must maintain your power through consent, not coercion. You must respect the rights of minorities and participate with a spirit of tolerance and compromise. You must place the interests of your people and the legitimate workings of the political process above your party. Without these ingredients, elections alone do not make true democracy."

In other words, the world is slowly starting to understand that we can't forsake an entire group or population of people--no matter how far away or how foreign--because of a few Ego or Ethnocentric political and business leaders. All must be valued. Inclusion and integration is paramount.

How Would Gandhi Think, Feel and Act?

We would do well at this juncture in history to remember that Gandhi arose out of a culture of oppression, becoming a pioneer of non-violence and civil disobedience. His phrase, "Be the change you wish to see in the world," is perhaps one of the world's most inspirational slogans. His success in rallying his nation to freedom no doubt fuels the fight of so many others.

If you've followed my work in any way, you've no doubt heard me speak on going "3 for 3." Going 3 for 3 is what happens when your thoughts, your feelings and your actions are all firing simultaneously and in alignment, creating a powerful, undeniable magnetic field. Gandhi knew what it meant to live in alignment with his thoughts, feelings and actions all working toward one goal: freedom for his people.

We're observing the same thing now in Iran.

This is not a populace who is just thinking and feeling that they need to be free with rights. They're thinking, feeling and taking ACTION! It takes a certain level of awakening and awareness to get to the point where you're ready to act. An idea usually has to germinate for a long time and gain substantial emotional energy behind it before people are courageous enough to shake, rattle and roll. And yet, that's exactly what we're seeing.

Pain Precedes Change

You've heard it before: People don't change unless and until they experience enough pain with the way things are (some say that's the "gift" of pain). A woman doesn't stop eating cookies until the pain of having thunder thighs is worse than the pain of not downing Oreos. A man doesn't quit his job until the pain of working for his maniacal boss is greater than the idea of living out of a cardboard box. Only then do we say: "Hey! Enough already!" Only then do we figure out how to think, feel and act in a different direction.

In the case of America, it took eight years of Bush to help us elect a new, more inclusive leader. Sure, some were scared shitless to have someone with a middle name of "Hussein" leading a Christian nation at this time in history (with Muslim roots, no less). But, it was a hell of a lot scarier not to change, which would guarantee nothing but more of the same!

The world is evolving, on that you can count. How quickly or how pain free, only time will tell. I know to my core, however, that freedom is eventually inevitable, for all people.

The world can't stop evolving, even if we want her to. Neither can her people. This is not Disneyland, and you can't get off the ride. And, although birthing is hard, what choice do we have? Just suppose a mother during labor said, "I'm not going to go through with this after all. This process is just too damn hard." Would that stop the baby from coming? Would it stop pushing, turn around and go back up for another ten years? Hardly!

Once spirit starts to birth forward, new life must happen. It's happening... Do you feel it?

Better yet: Are you willing to Think, Feel and Act it?

In the past year at the age of 48 I finally conquered my fear of flying by taking 3 trips to Bucharest,Romania with stops in Brussels,Belgium, Paris,France, and London,England respectively.

My eyes were opened and my life was positively changed. Whether it were the French, Brits or Romanians, I learned that people are people no matter where I went. I was made to feel at home and treated with much respect and hospitality in all the places in Europe I visited.

My new belief as a result of my trips is history has evolved to the point of a new world order and I am very excited to part of it.

It's time we Americans release our illusionist's pre-conceived prejudices and accept that we are all made of the same stuff no matter where on the globe we are parked.

Thanks so much for the well written article!

Best regards,
Alex

Are you serious? I have all of your stuff and think it is all great. I do. I practice it as much as possible. I have been to your Harmonic Wealth Weekend. Great stuff. As a matter of fact my whole family has read your book. You were on the Obama train at The Harmonic Wealth Weekend and I blew it off. Enough is enough. How about you start looking at the impact of his economic policies. We are on the verge of socialism. I believe in personal responsibility. In other words everytrhing good and bad in my life is all on me. I don't want the goverment to bail me out. Look at his answers to everything-Tax the rich. Their answer to everything is raise taxes. And by the way do you think he writes those speeches? Obama is one of the best orators of our time. No question. But you know what I think he is a puppet, whennever he is pressed with hard questions he gets mad and leaves. Have you looked at how they are starting to control who is allowed in and what questions can be asked? This not very "positive" and obviously that is not constructive but please call it down the middle. Is he terrible? No. Is he the second coming? No.But if you want the government to take care of you then he is your man.

Conscious Capitalism

Check out my first post as a Huffington Post blogger: Conscious Capitalism: Taking Actions That Are Good for Self, Others and the Entire World.

Here's an excerpt:

Just three short months ago, we let out a collective sigh of relief as we stood on the precipice of a new era in American politics. Though we weren't sure how President Obama would respond to the many challenges at hand, many of us shared in his determination to shift our country's fear-based focus into a mindset of hope and progress. When the election dust had settled, we began to tell ourselves that we'll all be fine now. All of our needs will be met. Well...if you're one of the many who think that Obama's stimulus package will miraculously save us, that home foreclosures will magically cease, consumer confidence will instantly increase, and everyone will go back to work in the blink of an eye...think again.

Dear James,

When you telecast to the Oscar celebrities, please impress them with this same message. Hollywood is in a state where they have a deficit of $42billion and cannot even make refunds of overpaid taxes to their citizens. It's time that the celebrities, who are the among the highest paid people and are supported by viewers who are struggling taxpayers, give back to the state in which they live and work. They need to scale down their lifestyles, too, along with the rest of us and be more community-minded about their fellow citizens. Truly do they need such large Beverly Hills Mansion and showy limousenes in such a time as ours?

Dear James,

Wonderful, inspiring video! Could feel your energy and conviction leaping through the screen.

Yes there is a profound shift happening. It's very exciting and it's wonderful and it's now. The world as we know it is gone. I can't help but think of "it's the end of the world as we know it.." BY R.E.M. ;-)

In reality we don't have the world to change - we have ourselves to change. We are the whole world and by changing ourselves from within - we change the world.

And no I have not read your open letter to Obama. I skimmed parts of it. It's VERY long and I'm VERY busy. I will find some time to read it. I promise, but no promise as to when!

James,

I am a huge fan of yours, I can tell you genuinely want to continue to grow and heal yourself as well as to genuinely help and accelerate the growth of as many others as possible. I feel a huge energetic connection with you, even though we've never met. I have some of your swell harmonic wealth products and feel that I see clearly...

While I agree, "hook, line and sinker" with your message and plea to the President, I believe it is too long, too wordy and not simple enough. As you can see from my own preamble to you, this is a struggle of mine too! The President is a hugely busy man.

I think the essence is about encouraging our leaders to rally each one of us to heal and grow ourselves, to light up and complete our own divinity from within. Then, by each one of us who accomplishes this task, we can show the world, by living our principles with the help of simple individual, regular physical practice of the principles within our healthy bodies and minds, then, finally, reflecting the benefits of this principle and practice in our everyday lives with our actions as we navigate in the material world,... so that by our own individual actions/actualization of principle, we can shine a light for others that reveals/models to each of us, genuine light, hope and happiness... Then one by one, we can heal our planet and family of humans and companion animals, sooner than we think... I think!

Ok. Thanks so much for letting me blow hard on my point!

I'm very grateful I was able to attract your wisdom and teaching to me, and to the prospect of meeting you at some future date.

Dear Mr. James Ray,
I truly believe that my way of thinking has just found it's rightfull place. I can truly understand ur piece of mind. It's strange and it just feels great that I wasn't the only one to think that we all need to try to change our mindset of our egocentric thinking or even better just to let it go. I truly believe that we can find happiness and consideration for each other by being true to ourself so we can help each other and live in peace with each other. I truely believe that every person has this ray of light. And because of certain circumstances or mostly because of ourselves we don't find the answers we are looking for. But now I know we all can find a solution for all our problems. If we can just let go our sellfish ego's and take action with this ray of light. Everyone has his own way of doing this, as long as we are taking responsibility for it. Than we surely can make this world a better or more harmonious place. I just can't stop writing right now because I am so excited while I need to go to bed because in a few hours I need to go to work. No need to worry of course, I believe my mind and body will be rested enough when i fall a sleep. But once again I thank you also for being so true. Because of your trueness it inspires to react in truth to ourselves. For that I thank you.

James,

I followed you since I saw you on the Secret. I learned a lot from you and purchased many of your books and audio products.

...but. When I read your letter to the president, I was disappointed. Population control, hero worship and wealth distribution is a tragically ego driven agenda.

It is evident to me that the president used the very seductive mantra of hope. The dialog was very welcome by people who are tired of the drum beat of fear. But today, the president and his supporting cast are manipulating he press with fake controversies and drumming up fear to advance an agenda. The agenda, in my opinion, is so egregious that it flies in the face of advancing humanity.

I unsubscribed from your mailing lists, and have stopped downloading your podcasts.

I thank you for teaching the very lesson that allowed me to see how utterly crazy it is to worship a man in a power position.

Open letter to President Obama.

January 26, 2009

Dear Mr. President:

Congratulations on your new position and for your willingness to step into office in this time of great transition and opportunity. I'm sure you're well aware of the magnitude of the job you've accepted, and I'm also certain you would not have chosen this path were it not for your true desire to contribute and leave a lasting legacy.

Never in my lifetime has a new president taking office created such a large sense of hope, excitement and anticipation in the American people. As you know, with great power comes great responsibility, and to that end, I respectfully write you today to communicate and encourage you in what I consider imperatives in the years ahead.

Please know that in order to bring lasting change, the path you travel must often be a path that many are unwilling to take. Much like hacking your way through a dense jungle, the first trip through is difficult and takes tremendous work and commitment. However, once the first pass is cleared, the second pass is much less difficult, and the third is easier still. Over time, the once difficult and non-existent path becomes the norm.

While you and I both know that carving a new path is difficult, the good news is that we have a growing body of individuals who realize the old path has taken us as far as we can go. In many cases, nothing fails today like the success of yesterday.

Mr. President, it's evident that in the last few years, we've reached a crucial juncture in our history. We stand upon the threshold of a major shift toward a new stage of social, cultural and spiritual evolution that has been predicted by many great traditions and ancient cultures across the ages of time.

These shifts are every bit as dramatic as it must have been for our ancestors to move from caves into grasslands then from nomadic tribes to settled villages. At the dawn of the industrial revolution, we moved into industrious societies. Now we must move beyond those societies and fully integrate into an interconnected, knowledge- and spirit-based global system that transcends--yet includes--cultural, ethnic, political and religious boundaries.

We know this is not your responsibility alone. Yet in the years to come, you'll have such a great influence and impact, and we'll need your understanding and support. The decisions we make individually and collectively right now are determining whether we set the stage for probable termination of the human adventure on this planet or create a blueprint for reaching a harmonious and cooperative global community.

While there is much talk about the economy and the security of our country, these are not the primary issues we face. In fact, these are but the effects of a much greater cause. To bring lasting transformation in any area, you must always deal with the cause versus the effects. I submit to you that the cause is the consciousness of each and every American as well as each and every human being. This critical shift in consciousness is the leap from an ethnocentric or cultural-centric consciousness to a world-centric consciousness.

Sociologist Emile Durkheim stated, "When mores are insufficient, laws are unenforceable. When mores are sufficient, laws are unnecessary." Much more is required today than piecemeal action or a quick fix. We need to perceive our challenges in their totality and deal with them not only with our intellect but with the coherent integration of head and heart, both mind and spirit.

A new way of thinking and feeling must be fostered for responsible living and acting. No longer may we spend multiple billions of dollars a year on arms and military across this planet while we spend a pittance to maintain a livable and sustainable environment. No longer can we allow our government to get bogged down in what should be personal choices such as sexual preferences, right to life or choice and individual religious issues while there are much greater matters at stake.

I cannot overemphasize that what is needed is true harmonic wealth in this world. Yes, in many of my writings, I maintain that creating a state of harmony and wellbeing is a very personal issue. Ultimately, worlds don't change. Countries don't change. Governments don't change. Corporations don't change. Nor do states, cities, neighborhoods or families. Only one thing changes: the individual. When the individual changes his or her way of thinking, feeling and acting, the families, neighborhoods, cities, states, countries and entire world must also change.

While harmonic wealth must begin personally, it's much more than just personal. True harmony and wellbeing will occur on our planet when we individually and collectively respect and foster the creativity and individuality of all human beings. We've all heard the word "diversity," and yet many still limit their definition of it. While diversity includes gender and race, it's so much more than that.

I was excited by your Inaugural Address when you stated that, "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers." If my memory serves me, this is the first time a president of the United States has ever acknowledged this fact in such a way. Too long have we as Americans played the world's enforcer of our most dominant belief system. I believe our intention has certainly been good, and I also believe that if someone is misusing their power, it must be addressed. All too often, we've assumed that what works well for us as a nation must be what's best for all. This is not always the case.

From the Hindus, we were gifted the original understandings of how the universe is structured--the precursor to quantum physics. From the Buddhists, we learned to open our heart with compassion and to quiet our mind. From the Jews and Muslims, we reinforced that there is but one Creator God and that there are definite laws and systems of operation if we choose to live in harmony with nature's rhythms. From the Christians, we were taught that our universe and Creator is not malevolent but loving and completely benevolent. Furthermore, we were told that if we too just love and give like The Source loves, we shall live in harmony and perfect peace.

True diversity is inherent in all human beings as well as in nature, science and art. A symphony cannot be created by only one note or one instrument. An atom cannot exist without both a positron and an electron. A work of art must have many shapes and colors just as the most beautiful garden has a multitude of plants, flowers, rocks and trees.

Likewise, a harmonious world and human community must have a genuine respect for differences not just in race and gender but in age, sexual preferences, beliefs, religion, various ways of worship and personality. Just as the human body is killed by cancerous yet homogenous cells that continually reproduce and kill the other cells, so too is the world endangered by the domination of only one, or maybe a relative few, varieties of cultures, religions and civilizations. And yes. This principle even extends to how each country chooses its governance.

Please let me reinforce my position that we must address those who misuse their power. In your Inaugural Address, you brilliantly stated, "To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society's ills on the West, know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy." And this measure must extend to all people in the world--including the United States. To uphold or stand for anything, we must first be a shining example of that for which we stand both internally and externally.

Once again Mr. President, we need your help, understanding and support. This is a time to call for responsibility both individually and collectively. I believe you to be an optimist, and for that reason, we are kindred spirits. I believe all this can be accomplished in our lifetime. In fact, it must!

To this objective, I submit it will only be completed through the application of three imperatives: Consciousness, Communication and Community. These are fundamental values that will change the world. If we maintain obsolete values and beliefs, an attachment to the past and a self-centered approach, we will quickly become obsolete. The time has come to act.

The human species needs more than just a job, food, water, a house, a little money and family. While these things are an important part of life, we also have the intrinsic need to have something to live for: an ideal to achieve, a purpose to fulfill, a legacy to leave.

Mr. President, we need your help in encouraging the Consciousness of responsibility at all seven levels of being instead of just one or two: individual, gender, race/ethnicity, cultural, human, sentient and spiritual.

We must become responsible for seeking our own interests while remaining in harmony with, and not at the expense of, other human beings and the environment. While capitalism works, we must move toward conscious (or enlightened) capitalism. Conscious capitalism is founded upon the ideal that we must consistently make decisions that are concurrently good for the individual, good for our country and good for the world.

We must become responsible for not tolerating brutality or misuse of power here and abroad. We must become responsible for not bringing more children into the world than we can properly care for and support or that our planet can sustain.

We must become responsible for ensuring our leaders, to quote the words of scripture, "beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks," and realize that we're all one people living on what is a very tiny round speck in the grand scheme of the cosmos. We must become responsible enough to realize that the geographic boundaries we've created are arbitrary, and that if we are to win, we all must win.

While we must demand this focus of our leadership, we cannot ask for what we don't ourselves embody. Therefore, we must be responsible to recognize that peace and harmony begins within our own individual lives, businesses and households.

We must become responsible for ensuring that our corporations don't continue a shortsighted pursuit of economic ends at the cost of others as well as the destruction of the very planet that allows us to live.

We must become responsible for finally letting go of the racial and religious pains and injustices of the past. Let us be reminded that energy flows where attention goes. As we continually look for references in the rearview mirror, we surely find and perpetuate the very thing we abhor.

We must become responsible as members of the human race to hold in the highest awe and respect the human spirit and the drive encoded in our very DNA to rise to personal and spiritual excellence. To understand the intrinsic need to love, connect and to understand and be understood.

We must know above all else that evolving the human spirit and consciousness is the first cause shared by the entire human race and be responsible to that end.

Mr. President, all these things must be grounded in a major shift in individual, national and global consciousness.

Secondly, we must Communicate these critical issues clearly, repeatedly and consistently. I am thrilled with the possibilities in this arena for your skills as an orator are self evident. Words and ideas do change the world.

There will be many distractions coming your way that must be dealt with and competition from issues that must be communicated by you. Yet if you understand the severity of this winter we face, you also know that after every single winter comes spring--always and without exception. The seeds we plant individually and collectively right now are determining our next spring and the harvest we will or will not experience as a nation and a world.

We stand on the end days of an old, dying system. An outgrown way of thinking, feeling and acting has served its purpose and must be let go and transcended. Every significant breakthrough is always preceded by a breakdown. For something new to live, something first must die. We need your help in communicating that we stand poised on the brink of a new era and new life versus focusing on the fear and insecurity of the death of the old.

As a people, we must demand that our media communicates more possibility and opportunity versus scarcity and fear. We must stop communicating characterizations of different cultural beliefs and religions as backward or threatening. When we stereotype any single group, we tell a lie as we turn people into categories and things.

Einstein said, "You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war." Once again, energy flows where attention goes. We need your support in continuing to focus on what we choose to create versus what we choose to avoid and to stand for something versus against something else. Let's collectively move toward harmony, peace and wellbeing for all Americans and the entire world. Let's keep our attention on that, versus continuing to wage a "War on Terror."

A bonfire will only continue to rage when logs are continually thrown upon it. If we place our consciousness and communication primarily on the fire we choose, old unwanted fires will die out from lack of attention and fuel.

Finally, with a shift in consciousness growing and evolving, the message being continually focused upon, communicated and fed, we will build Community and unity in our world. A new global community that, as we've discussed, respects, values and leverages the differences of all creative beings. And we will certainly create our symphony.

Isn't it interesting that the field in which we play this amazing and wonderful gift called life is called a universe? Uni-Verse. One song, one people, one planet, one symphony.

Mr. President, I told you I'm an eternal optimist, and I'm not alone. There's a growing body of people who are optimistic as well. Not romanticized optimism, for we know that anything of true and lasting value takes work, focus, commitment and time. But now is the time to march.

As stated before, every significant breakthrough is almost always preceded by a breakdown. It's normally only in our times of greatest challenge that we step back and take a hard inventory of our lives, where we've been and where we choose to go.

I believe this is the most exciting time in our world history to be alive. It's a time in which future generations will look back upon us and say, "They were the ones that figured it out. Thank God for them. The decisions they made in our most critical hours determined our destiny as a people and a world... They were the ones who figured it out."

We're doing that right now, Mr. President. We need your support for the awakening of a new era. You have ours. Thank you for time in your busy schedule. Let's leave a lasting legacy together. Let's change the world.

Much love and respect.

I, too, was inspired by the words "Yes, WE CAN", spoken by a man who has shown us that he is a man of integrity. A man who is ready, willing and able to stand behind the words that he speaks - the words that he has shown us he did not speak lightly, but with conviction of purpose. I sign my name to the bottom of this document, not just because I am in full agreement with the words written within, but to show others that we, too, must all have the integrity to stand behind our words, beliefs and desires to create more - for we are all creators. It will take many, working with conviction of purpose to create the same thing, to see that it comes to be.

Together, we can... and I stand with all who want to create a lasting, meaningful change for all humanity,

This letter reflects everything I have been thinking and feeling ever since President Obama became a frontrunner during the campaign. The time for change is now, and I believe President Obama is the perfect man to lead us into the new era that is quickly coming upon us. Change is inevitable, but it is much easier when we embrace and accept it rather than cling to old, outdated ideas.

James, you said it perfectly; "one song, one people, one planet, one symphony". Your words brought tears to my eyes because they are so powerful and passionate. It is time for us to stand up and take responsibility for our actions then move forward to create a new world for all.

Please add my name to the list of people working to help create change....not only individually, but globally as well.

In Light, Love, and Gratitude,

Shela

Dear James~

Words cannot describe the feelings and resonating energy I experienced reading your letter to our President.

Your voice speaks invaluable volumes of the memorandums from the deep seated souls of humanity. Not only with upstanding paramountcy, but with the clarity of a vision in the hopes and hearts of all mankind.

You have exemplified a glimmer turning into a beaming wave of light for all of us. I am graciously appreciative of your mindfulness and courage to speak not only your truth, but a truth that resonates within all of us.

"We are but ONE POWER, no longer silent and separated in our reverie of repeated histories; but alive, breathing, pulsing and thriving, further reaching and expanding into a new paradigm...One momentum growing, a blossoming of glorious faith and hope igniting in each and every being from within each soul possesses. The Whole of who we are, the common elements of desire we all share to extend our hearts, minds and souls to each other. A new conscious awareness becoming that can and inevitably will allow the freedom we are all seeking."

James I am in resonance with what you've communicated. "Yes, in many of my writings, I maintain that creating a state of harmony and wellbeing is a very personal issue. Ultimately, worlds don't change. Countries don't change. Governments don't change. Corporations don't change. Nor do states, cities, neighborhoods or families. Only one thing changes: the individual. When the individual changes his or her way of thinking, feeling and acting, the families, neighborhoods, cities, states, countries and entire world must also change."

Supporting personal transformation supports family transformation which supports neightborhood and community transformation, which supports city, state, country and global transformation. For transformation to occur it starts with the individual and ripples forward.

Here's to positive, loving, harmonious transformation!

I have substantive agreement and joyfully spread the message.

I am grateful for your eloquence and vision.

Please consider the possibility that you are holding onto an erroneous belief with this line:

"We must become responsible for not bringing more children into the world than we can properly care for and support or that our planet can sustain."

It is a belief that suggests we are not capable of unlimited creation and yet to be imagined solutions.

Do not limit us by the boundaries of current science or planetary existence.

There is more than one solution to every problem and unless we are willing to accept that - we will never discover new territories or push the limits of our creative abilities.

I humbly ask for your consideration on this point.

Namaste,
Fran

Today begins the dawn of a new era in history. An era of change. An era of hope. Of new direction. Of no limitation. Of unity. One where humanity is brought together and united in thought, in purpose and in action.

Why? Because that is the message that the world has been inundated with throughout the course of the Presidential campaign and since President-elect Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States of America.

The significance of this point in time is unparalleled and each of us have the opportunity to ride the wave of Hope and add our positive intentions, thoughts, prayers and energy to the momentum that is building.

You have heard it said many ways before. "We become what we think about." "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, he can achieve." "Be the change you desire" , etc. There is strength in numbers and never before in the history of man have so many come together in positive thought for the highest and best good of all humanity.

Regardless of your political affiliation. Regardless of your geographical location. Regardless of your age, your gender, your religious beliefs or any other factors that you relate to and identify with, we are in a time where we stand to see massive shifts in thought and perspective and we will all benefit from the power of unification that is unfolding.

We will each play our part in creating the "new world" whether we are present to it or not. How will you play your role? I invite you to take a moment and reflect on that. What does a world of change, hope and possibility look like in your mind's eye? What action will you take today to begin creating that world?

Our contribution may be as simple as holding positive thoughts or spending time in meditation and prayer. We may mentor our youth, beginning with our own children. We may volunteer in service to others. The President-elect set a good example of this when he took the time to help paint a center for teens in D.C. yesterday. Whatever our contribution, imagine the world if we each resolved to begin today.

Today is a new day. Today begins the dawn of a new era. An era of change. An era of hope. Of new direction. Of expansion. Of unity. One where humanity is brought together and united in thought and purpose and are inspired to act.

Be the Light that you Are and ride the wave of change!

Paula

In this winter of our lives as stewards and residents of this planet, our country has been given a chance to grow from a callous and reckless adolescent to able executor, and this man has been entrusted with their future as guardian. We stand on a very delicate and narrow edge politically, ecologically, economically, and sociologically. "We must become responsible for not bringing more children into the world than we can properly care for and support or that our planet can sustain."

Since I do not support violence or murder against other humans, I cannot in good conscience support the murder of unborn children...I believe that the miracle of life begins at conception, and not when the baby comes out of the mother's womb...

James the first time we met was years ago in Chicago at a seminar for our special group of Herbalife distributors. At that training you opened the minds of many and that includes me. Your deep thought and appreciation for the human spirit was apparent. I will never forget that training. Now this letter to the President is a further enhancement of my appreciation of your personal skills. One area that disturbed me a bit with the Presidents speech was his reference to quote "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers." there are many humans such as myself who don't claim a certain religion but are very much aware of "GOD" or however God is defined. We are spiritual but not restricted to a "dogmatic belief" that is confined to the rules of a Pope or religious leader. Even Darwin declared before his death that there had to be some sort of universal force that directed life rather then by just survival of the fittest. I will join the others who sign and support this great piece of literature that may well be considered in the future as perhaps a document that helped change the world in a time of great need. Many of us have seen this extraordinary time coming that will lift the universe into greater enlightened living. It is our higher purpose to release the bonds of fear and shift to a new paradigm of empowerment, cooperation, compassion and gratitude, enabling humankind to steward the gifts of planet earth with love and integrity for all. President Obama's election has sounded the tone that touches so many of us. Now we must ALL work earnestly together and accomplish what we have imprinted in our souls.

Thank you James! This is a wonderful use of the media! My dream is that the many "news" commentators would pick up on this theme and cease spreading more and more fear. With every inflammatory, dismal piece of news that is broadcast on the airwaves the new seeds of loss are sown. The people with the microphone have the power. The way they slant the news events is creating more of the same. The collective consciousness of the entire world is being fed so much gloom and doom by the media that they are working against the positive change we need. The entire world economy is focused on fear. It is impossible not to hear their messages. Our president is only one man and he needs help. We can not stand by and wait for one man to fix everything alone. It is up to the rest of us to come out and help.
Thank you James for using your optimism, knowledge and talent for communicating, to foster the positive message. Thank you for taking the lead in spreading optimism. I believe that if a new rumor could get started, that if the news spread a positive message, or at least tried to be neutral, this downward spiral of thinking would change. It has too.

The tone of the letter is nice but let's not fool ourselves: Obama is nothing new. The destructive foreign policy of GW Bush is already continuing under Obama- in his 4th day of office, he ordered the bombing of Pakistan, killing 20 people. Obama fully supports building up the military in the middle east and fully supports bailing out banks & auto companies with stolen (tax) money. Change? This is NOT the man who wants what's best for the INDIVIDUAL, he is for the COLLECTIVE, which is absolutely nothing new.

Thank you James for your forever proactive approach to a better world.

We support you in your letter to our new President. We too understand this is a time of great change and are grateful that the American people have chosen a great leader to assist us with the evolution of the human experience. Not since the Kennedys have we heard a politician speak that bring tears to American eyes. We understand that Obama is only one man and as he enters our corrupt government system that has been dominated by old beliefs and models, we believe that, Obama, just one man can make a huge impact. After all, look at the huge impact one man, James Ray, has had on thousands of people world wide :). We have already seen that Obama can inspire Americans, we are hopeful that he can inspire ALL Americans past our differences and towards harmonious individuality but it will take the work of EVERYONE to support this movement! There is a concept used in team building sports, you are only as strong as your weakest link. That being said, we believe each human being will need to assist others with the individual growth of ALL that we come into contact with daily. Then and only then will we will be able to inspire this nation to grow together to greater heights, as a team – with no one to be left behind.

Me and my partner are committed to stay focused on the goal of a harmonious world and live everyday to help our fellow man/woman which will in turn impact the rest of our city, state, country, and world. After all, it was one man that once said "Be the Change you want to see in the World" – Gandhi – We hope that all people are all able to internalize this to make it a daily practice.

Be blessed and stay focused.

Much Love,

Kristine and Sheri

Fabulous James,
You have inspired me to focus on Consciousness, Communication and Community!

Here are a few of my favorite excerpts from your letter:

While harmonic wealth must begin personally, it's much more than just personal. True harmony and wellbeing will occur on our planet when we individually and collectively respect and foster the creativity and individuality of all human beings.

While we must demand this focus of our leadership, we cannot ask for what we don't ourselves embody. Therefore, we must be responsible to recognize that peace and harmony begins within our own individual lives, businesses and households.

To uphold or stand for anything, we must first be a shining example of that for which we stand both internally and externally.

The human species needs more than just a job, food, water, a house, a little money and family. While these things are an important part of life, we also have the intrinsic need to have something to live for: an ideal to achieve, a purpose to fulfill, a legacy to leave.

As a people, we must demand that our media communicates more possibility and opportunity versus scarcity and fear.

Thank you James!
Sincerely,
Tera

Eloquent and powerful. There is one place where I am concerned about impact -- where you were talking about the gifts of different religions. When you mentioned Christianity you referred to The Source. The Source is more of a new age reference to God. Could be a deal breaker for some. I would hate for anyone to miss out on the wholeness of your message.

Blogger Archerfish said ... (1/26/2009 9:12 AM) :
This is an excellent letter. There is one distinction I would add that I didn't see in the letter: The distinction between earning and deserving.
Every individual on this planet DESERVES complete health, unlimited opportunity and unending prosperity. But not every individual does what is necessary to EARN those things. For everything that is desired (and deserved), individual action is required. Government is NOT in the position to dictate who should receive what benefit except through education or through FORCE. Most of the time, government uses force to try and create those things for individuals and organizations that have not done so on their own. But opportunity, prosperity and health are things that cannot be legislated into existence; they absolutely MUST come from individual and community effort. Yet our government continues outmoded and harmful policies of "Robin Hood" socialism that, at best, generate a lowest-common-denominator mentality among those whom our government is presumably trying to help, by robbing the rich to give to the poor.
I am a huge fan of private charity. I do believe that individuals who make it known to their community that they will act on good faith to create the lives they desire if given "a leg up" are worthy recipients of community assistance. However, the now-classic method of community assistance offered by government is the only kind that it seems to able to use: Force those who have worked to earn their daily bread to give a portion of it to those who have not. That method and its consequences are exemplified in the following quote:

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to
anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the
other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

The late Dr. Adrian Rogers , 1931 to 2005

To repeat the last sentence of that quote: You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. Yet that is exactly what almost every social policy enacted in this country (and those enacted in every other country around the world that has a socialist government) does. All one must do to see evidence of how detrimental such policies are is to look at how people treat each other in other countries where social policies are even more pervasive and overreaching than they are in America.
The fostering of social responsibility through education is the only solution. Social responsibility reminds us that we all depend upon each other; that we are all beholden to each other whether or not we are willing to acknowledge that fact. But using legislative force to artificially generate that social responsibility is archaic and, ultimately, destroys the very thing it is used to create. I believe Harmonic Wealth can reverse that practice but it takes courage and commitment to enact. Part of that courage is being willing to set aside abusive, wasteful and damaging policies of force and let society and the free markets it creates chose the ways in which we help each other. Some may say that is a pipe dream and that force is still necessary to protect the disenfranchised. I disagree. Allow people the freedom to give and we will. We may even surprise ourselves into giving much more than was previously being taken by force!

Yes, all of this is the truth. I believe we have become isolated in our individualism. We have created a "What's in it for me society" driven through greed. Change comes from within but families' and a society's values ingrain limiting beliefs into those who are not conscious of how their choices impact the lives of others. Let's rebuild the US into a "How can I be of service" society. Overhaul our educational, legal, and business systems to reward co-operation over competition. Focus our energies on all the good that already exists in everyone worldwide and seek understanding.
Many blessings to all and thank-you James for inviting us to share in this communicaton.

Mahalo Nui Loa (heartfelt thanks) for writing a letter that holds the keys to unlock that hidden door that so many seek!

I do not agree with the limitations you set forth for having children and support of earth's resources, but I do understand why you feel that way .. perhaps wording to look for more sustainable resources would have been more 'up my alley'.

With that said, I would like to add some things about President Obama that others might not realize.

He was raised in the land of The Aloha Spirit. To many the word Aloha is a greeting. To those who know it is much more than that and actually is next to impossible to describe in words.

Aloha is giving of the love you have; the love that comes from deep within you; the love at the root of your being. It means giving this love also through your breath of life or words that emminate from within your Spirit.

Having lived the majority of his childhood here in Hawai`i, Mr. Obama, or Barry as we know him, holds within him the true Spirit of Aloha.

A Spirit where everything is shared; where everyone is cared for; where everyone is thankful for everything. A place where you have to be careful when saying you like something for you might have to accept it as your gift.

Hawai`i is a land of people from all over the world of every creed of every color. Just as our President has a background of multiple races, so does our country. That is great cause for celebration!

While the press celebrates President Obama's 'blackness', we in Hawai`i celebrate his representation of all humans. For we know his multi-ethnic bckground represents all.

We celebrate The Spirit of Aloha being present in Washington DC.

We know beyond knowledge that all, and the good of all, will be top priority in this new administration of the United States of America.

For The Spirit of Aloha, The Spirit of Love for all, now resides in the White House. The Spirit of Aloha is now spreading faster upon the Earth.

Aloha no kakou (May love surround you until we meet again) ~S~

James,

Thank you for your initiatives in seeking to meticulously put forth clear meaningful set of suggestions

It is sincerely hope that the respective suggestions will be considered and further discussed for hopeful implementation on the basis that you have envisaged

While there were various aspects of your article that were particularly interesting; I would wish to enclose the following excerpt from your article:-

________________

Quote:- From your article

"energy flows where attention goes. As we continually look for references in the rearview mirror, we surely find and perpetuate the very thing we abhor."

_________________

The above is very true and meaningful indeed since at whatever level this is considered

- Whether it is a Personal Level, a Professional - Corporate level; a Governmental or Industrial Level; or yet further on other respective Levels

- The very aspect of accentuating the emphasis - focus would tend to empower the intention being considered with significance

- And it is certainly useful to pursue the pro active approach whereby there is no recurrence of any aspects that might have resulted contradictorily on previous instances

- (based upon the experience as well as guidance of eminent analysts - think tanks - study panels and other respective organization entrusted with the concerned capacities to verify and provide an accurate set of reports for careful consideration further to instituting the respective power)

- As well as the reference of the rear view mirror is a point - that recapitulating and looking back to guide effectively

Thank you for saying it so perfectly. I was thinking about how Barack's time to lead has come, pre-blest by those who came immediately before him who made it so very clear that the old way doesn't work. They tried every last ditch effort to fit the old belief system into this new world and it simply exploded before them. Out of gratitude for their odd and desperate part in this necessary movement toward change, I thank them for their part in creating darkness with their fear mongering and arrogance, in which the smallest flicker of a light shed by hope could show how dearly change was needed. Many see them as the bad guys, but I see them as having played an important part in reflecting back to us our complacency, our tendency toward greed, and our willingness to let them make reckless decisions on our behalf. This is not about party lines, as there are fabulous hearts and minds on all sides. This is about the rebirth of our nation and the labor pains we had to go through to find the light and air we so desperately needed. Just like a baby gets too big and uncomfortable in the womb when it is time to emerge and the contractions start, so too, have we been in the process of moving through the birth canal, blind with no light, but moving forward nonetheless. The day we voted Barack into office was the day we were delivered anew. Now it is time that we learn to walk and talk again, curious about everything, delighting in simple pleasures, and exploring with both the true wisdom of the past and the richness of a brand new perspective.
I spent the past several years afraid of so many things because of the former leadership. I felt the despair of having no voice. And now, so clear and beautiful, our new day has come. Barack Obama is the conduit through which our voices have finally surfaced.
I totally agree that it is up to each of us to put down our swords, to shed our fears, to take up our hands together and breathe life into to our new world. It is up to us to support Barack's leadership and keep him true both to his word, and to our collective word. Let us keep writing to him and assuring him that we are walking with him.

James,

Thank you for your initiatives in seeking to meticulously put forth clear meaningful set of suggestions

It is sincerely hope that the respective suggestions will be considered and further discussed for hopeful implementation on the basis that you have envisaged

While there were various aspects of your article that were particularly interesting; I would wish to enclose the following excerpt from your article which was of particular interest:-

- The very aspect of accentuating the emphasis - focus would tend to empower the intention being considered with significant set of results either for or against; depending upon the respective steps taken with thoughtfulness and due diligence

- And it is certainly useful to pursue the pro active approach whereby there is no recurrence of any critical aspects that might have resulted contradictorily on previous instances - basically to meaningfully avoid a repetition - recurrence of any sort whatsoever that could cause or have any affect either directly or indirectly since each step being taken could either make progress or impede the complete progress chart

- it is a matter of challenges that are being faced from divergent avenues; with each avenue being of immensely challenging proportions

- since with one challenge being handled there are equally several other challenging aspects with the equally pressing priorities for need to call for attention and resolutions

- since prevention is certainly better than cure and cure is extremely expensive in time, resources, apprehension, anxiety as well as marathon set of investments that takes decades to earn - accumulate

- so it is an intensive yet balanced approach - an purposeful and meaningful - swift but well thought and considered approach

- (based upon the experience as well as guidance of eminent analysts - think tanks - study panels and other respective organization entrusted with the concerned capacities to verify and provide an accurate set of reports for careful consideration further to instituting the respective power to tackle the related problems being faced and needing an urgent set of resolutions)

- As well as the reference of the rear view mirror is a point - that recapitulating and looking back to guide effectively - here it clearly shows that if looking in the rearview mirror this is only to avoid any pitfalls or detours that might mis guidingly create further obstacles

- being wise, aware, watchful, diligent, prudent, meaningful, purposeful and responsible at each and every step of the way

- not permitting any aspect relating to the past to recur

- to ensure that the pathways ahead are pursued diligently; prudently with due diligence and meaningfulness-purposefulness and responsibility consistently with meaningful consistency

Good Luck and Success

God Bless

Best Wishes,

Hi James, much love and gratitude to you for writing this letter for the people and your president. It's clear that the election of B. Obama has sparked a new energy not only in the US but around the world. I believe that he is a light being like yourself and that he will resonate with your words of truth. He definitely needs our support as there will be others who TRY to sway him off course with petty distractions. Your letter was very well written and sets a clear vision for all to work towards. Great idea to write to him, James.
But the letter's way too long (even for a non-President to read)

You're a wonderful man, and I totally resonate with your personal enthusiasm/dedicated vision. There is already a huge tidal wave of people here tuned in/tapped in/turned on to these truths and creating a groundswell of positive change to help do this. They may not do it with fanfares or call it Harmonic Wealth, but they're doing it, using a myriad of different methods (not lesser or better, just different). History has shown us that 'My Way or the Highway' - with respect - has never proved to be the most effective way to create change in the world.

"Leaving a legacy" is only important to the personality. Individuality doesn't require its name attached to any idea or way of life.

I am sorry, but i do not see where Obama has proven anything let alone that he is our "great" new President. I do believe in transformation of the individual to induce the transformation of the whole, but to put it on Obama that he is the conduit for this is to not have listened to what he has said or done. We will be led to socialism which puts the govt in charge not the transformation of individuals or the whole. Please take responsibility for the discernment of what is really going on. Could someone please tell me where Obama has even come close to what James says in this letter is his definition of change? Oh yeah, except for the contoling the population part.

"Every significant breakthrough is almost always preceded by a breakdown. It's normally only in our times of greatest challenge that we step back and take a hard inventory of our lives, where we've been and where we choose to go." -James Ray-

The words you said above in your letter say it all. I think most individuals have faced a personal challenge at sometime in their life and the steps we take to overcome them marks the path to greatness or possible destruction. With our new President, there are feelings of hope brought to each of us regardless of our race, religion or political affiliation. With that hope begins a positive approach each individual will need to take to the path of greatness for themselves, for their loved ones, for our country and collectively for the universe vs. the path of destruction.

Let's do it!!

“Blogs” - Portals in cyberspace for every topic under the sun.

(Points and Authorities) are always included when a good lawyer argues his/her point of view as to the facts of the case. The Judge becomes informed (sometimes confused) by the case law being presented, but ultimately makes an informed decision. The decision is not only based on the new information as provided by counsel, but how that information resonates through the core belief system of the Judge hearing the case.

Dear James Ray,
I have been personally present for two of your live speaking engagements. You are dynamic, powerful and very convincing. After hearing you speak my curiosity got the best of me, and I stood in line for a personal moment with you. I was expecting to meet a business-man with a rigid, non-compromising personality. You shook my hand, and looked directly into my eyes. The softness of your energy caught me by surprise. I stammered, and you listened to me as though I was the only person in the room, and you had nothing better to do at that very moment but hear what I had to say. I am a very strong person, and usually a good judge of character. You made me stammer, and brought tears to my eyes. I could see and feel that you truly live by what you teach. You are blessed with an ability to heal lives.

You have taken it upon yourself to draft a letter to the highest Judge in the land. My wish for you is that your words will resonate through his core belief system as right on (Point) with confirmed (Authority) from the thousands whom have prospered from your teachings.

May the “Blog” you have created be launched into cyberspace; and may the void be filled amass with voices of conformation.

President Obama, with all due respect, would do well by your counsel.

Written with the intent of a growing blessing for all,
Pam

My heart and intuition tells me that President Obama knows this and has always known this and that is a large part of how and why he got elected.

As Obama himself stated in his Inaugural speech he can not do it alone and that he and the country needs it's citizens to drive the movement of change and continue YES WE CAN.

We should all remember that although Obama is a great man (in my opinion) he is still just one person and to change our world requires many people. We the People means, the many people of these United States being conscious, being aware, contributing and helping our neighbors.

If Obama disappoints the responsibilty lies mostly on us the people. Just as the previous president largely disappointed, it was incumbent upon the people to participate in our government and communicate our pleasure and displeasure.

I agree with Mr. Ray -- we can and will do more to raise consciousness and be the change we want to see it the world.

YES WE CAN.

!!!!!!!!I felt uncomfortable when James said :

"We must become responsible for not bringing more children into the world than we can properly care for and support or that our planet can sustain."

"or that our planet can sustain."

Was the whole point.I agree with having the money to support the kids before you actually have the kids so they can be properly taken care of, Thats important.

But when james said "more that our planet can sustain" , sounds like he is bringing a control issue to attention. Everybody can be successful, but what if alot of people want to have three kids.I thought it was all about being unlimited, not lack of space. I like James teachings, cool guy. But that makes me feel wierd.Maybe their is a different way of understanding it, I dont know.?
Everything else is good though.
